Annual Influenza Vaccination Program (IVP)
The 2025-2026 Annual Influenza Vaccination Program (IVP) begins on OCT 7 for Areas I and II, and on OCT 14 for Areas III, IV, and Busan.
Background
Influenza (the flu) is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses. ANYONE can get the flu. It spreads every year usually between October and May. Flu seasons are unpredictable and have the potential to adversely impact force readiness and mission execution. Vaccination is the primary method for preventing influenza and its complications.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends everyone 6 months and older get vaccinated every flu season. There are many flu viruses, and they are always changing. Each year a new flu vaccine is made to protect against the influenza viruses believed to be likely to cause disease in the upcoming flu season.
The Korean Theater of Operations receives approximately 48K influenza vaccines for the annual influenza season, providing protection against multiple flu variants. This amount ensures that vaccination against influenza is available for all Soldiers and beneficiaries.
